The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) published its Global Report 2024, which provides in-depth insights into aesthetic and cosmetic procedures worldwide. According to the report, around 38 million procedures were performed in 2024, including 17.4 million surgical and 20.5 million non-surgical procedures. This marks an increase of 42.5 % over the last four years.

  • A remarkable increase was recorded in facial fat grafting (947,007 procedures, +19.2 %).
  • There were decreases in rhinoplasties (-9.8 %) and breast augmentations (-17.5 %).
  • The most common procedures for women were liposuction and breast surgery, while eyelid surgery and gynaecomastia were the most common procedures for men.

Additional findings

  • New categories such as "Mommy Makeover", scar correction, cheek fat removal and other specialised procedures have been included in this year's report.
  • There have been advances in combined procedures, such as hybrid breast augmentation (implant and fat transfer).

Notes & Download

The ISAPS 2024 report provides a comprehensive analysis of aesthetic surgery and non-surgical procedures worldwide and highlights the shift towards facial and scalp procedures. It also emphasises the importance of trends such as botulinum toxin, which continues to lead the way across all age groups and genders.

Who or what are National Secretaries at ISAPS?

The "National Secretaries" at the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) are like ambassadors for the organisation in various countries. They are experienced plastic surgeons who work for the ISAPS in their respective countries. Their main task is to maintain the link between the ISAPS and the members in their country.

National Secretaries help to disseminate information and news from ISAPS to the surgeons in their country. They often organise local events, congresses or meetings to share knowledge about aesthetic surgery and discuss the latest techniques. They also support new members, answer questions and promote co-operation between surgeons worldwide.

In short, National Secretaries are important contacts who ensure that the goals and values of ISAPS are well represented in their country.
