Effect of Botox®: Targeted relaxation of the muscles
The active ingredient botulinum toxin, also known as Botox®, is a naturally occurring bacterial toxin that is used in the therapy of certain muscle spasms. Wrinkles are caused by the movement of muscles - in the face especially around the eyes and in the forehead region, where the skin is repeatedly stretched and strained. This happens, for example, when we laugh or when we frown while thinking.
This activity of the muscles can hardly be avoided. Botox® inhibits the transmission of a movement stimulus from one muscle to the next through targeted and precisely fitting injections. This treatment is low-risk and preserves the patient's natural facial features.
Procedure for wrinkle treatment with Botox
At the Noahklinik Kassel, we attach great importance to a thorough consultation of our patients by our qualified doctors. Therefore, a consultation is first held with one of our specialists. Then the treatment can begin. In order to specifically relax the muscles, only a small amount of botulinum toxin A is injected. In this way we avoid a mask-like appearance. Due to the fine needle, there is usually no pain.
The treatment lasts between five and fifteen minutes, depending on the area, and the effect sets in after about three to six days. Until the result of the wrinkle treatment is visible, the skin over the muscle must gradually relax and smooth out. This can take two to three weeks.
Side effects include mild swelling and very rarely allergic reactions. Gentle cooling provides relief here. Botox® lasts between three and six months. Afterwards, the doctors at our practice in Kassel can easily perform further treatments to maintain the effect.

Botox® against migraine
Botox® not only smoothes wrinkles, but can also relieve migraines. This is because the active ingredient relaxes cramped muscles and inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory messenger substances. However, the effect is only temporary, as the substance is broken down again. The body usually eliminates the botulinum toxin after four to six months. Prices for treatment with Botox® at the Noahklinik Kassel
The price of a wrinkle treatment with Botox® depends on the amount of toxin used. At the Noah Clinic we charge objectively according to fixed units, the so-called Mouse Units. One MUI costs between eight and ten euros (plus VAT).
To give an example at this point: About 24 MUI are needed for the treatment of frown lines. In general, we only choose high-quality botulinum toxin for wrinkle treatment in our plastic and aesthetic surgery practice, thus avoiding side effects that could affect our patients' health.

Alternatives to Botox®: hyaluronic acid and autologous fat
Many of our patients wish to have wrinkle treatment in the face, but are critical of botulinum toxin. Here, there are essentially two other options in aesthetic surgery:
Hyaluron occurs naturally in the body and binds water. In this way, it ensures that the skin looks fresh and firm. We use small injections of hyaluronic acid to target various wrinkles - for example around the eyes, mouth or frown lines. The dosage here is also very small. Treatment with autologous fat is usually free of side effects, as the fat cells taken come from the respective patient.
With age, the subcutaneous fat tissue reduces. As a result, the tissue in the face sags. A targeted wrinkle treatment with autologous fat can help here.
