Gentle wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the body. It is used wherever large amounts of water need to be bound - in the joints, for example, where it ensures that everything runs smoothly, but also in connective tissue.
With increasing age, however, the body's own production of hyaluronic acid decreases. As a result, the joints are less well supplied - especially when osteoarthritis is added to the mix - and our skin also loses moisture and elasticity, resulting in wrinkles.
Up to the age of 60, we still have around 10 per cent of the original amount of hyaluronic acid in our bodies. In the field of aesthetics, hyaluronic acid can be injected into the skin as a filler as part of a wrinkle injection.
We always perform wrinkle treatment after a thorough consultation. The treating doctor first checks whether wrinkle injections with fillers will lead to the desired result. The patient's wishes are decisive here. Side effects or even allergic reactions are very rare with this treatment. Although the active ingredient is usually synthetic hyaluron, it is very close to the body's own substance.

Procedure and preparation for treatment with hyaluronic acid
A consultation takes place before the treatment. Your wishes and possible risks are discussed. Your face is examined and a treatment plan is drawn up.
You should refrain from taking blood-thinning medication and alcohol before the appointment. On the day of treatment, the skin is cleaned and disinfected. The hyaluronic acid is then injected into the skin or the respective wrinkle using a very fine syringe. A local anaesthetic is not usually necessary as there is hardly any pain. It usually only takes a few minutes. Immediately after the treatment, slight redness or swelling may occur. This usually disappears quickly. You can leave the practice immediately afterwards and are quickly ready for work again.
After the treatment, the skin should be gently cooled to avoid bruising.
Which wrinkles can be injected with hyaluronic acid?
At the Noahklinik Kassel, we treat both fine wrinkles and deeper wrinkles on the face with hylauron. The aim of wrinkle treatment using fillers is to reduce the depth of wrinkles and to restore moisture to the skin. Injections of the active ingredient are particularly suitable for the following indications
- Creases
- first lines
- Nasolabial folds
- Wrinkles around the lips
- horizontal furrows
- Tear trough
- Cheek augmentation
- Jaw and chin line
During the preliminary examination and consultation, we will explain to you which method is most suitable for you.
Advantages of minimally invasive wrinkle treatment
In contrast to major procedures performed by Plastic Surgery Kassel, such as a Facelift or SMAS lifting, the healing time after a filler therapy is very short.
In addition, pain, costs and downtime are low.
On the other hand, injections for wrinkle treatment also have their limits. If the skin is already severely sagging, surgical interventions are often the better alternative.

Risks & side effects ARE THERE any disadvantages to HYALuronic acid?
- Temporary redness, swelling or small bruises at the injection sites are possible and usually harmless, but usually disappear again after a short time.
- In rare cases, allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to the active substance used may occur.
- Irregularities in the skin's appearance, such as small nodules or asymmetries, can occur and may require correction.
- If used incorrectly, there is a risk of injury to blood vessels or infection.
- The result is not permanent, as hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down by the body; regular top-ups are necessary.
- The risk of side effects may be increased with existing underlying illnesses or certain medications.
In order to minimise these risks, a personal consultation and a detailed medical history by experienced specialists is essential. This is the only way to individually assess whether treatment with hyaluronic acid is sensible and safe.
Vascular occlusion and embolism - rare but serious risks
Although the use of hyaluronic acid as a filler is generally considered safe, serious complications such as vascular occlusion or embolism can occur in rare cases. A vascular occlusion occurs when the hyaluronic acid gel is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel and blocks it. This can disrupt or even interrupt the blood flow in the affected area. In the worst case scenario, the surrounding areas of skin can no longer be adequately supplied with oxygen and nutrients, which can lead to tissue loss (necrosis).
A hyaluronic acid embolism is a rare but potentially serious complication of filler injections. If the injected material enters a blood vessel, it can lead to vascular occlusion and thus to circulatory disorders and even tissue destruction. Despite careful application, the risk of embolism cannot be completely ruled out.
In order to minimise the risk of such complications, in-depth anatomical knowledge and careful injection technique by experienced medical staff are crucial. If a vascular occlusion or embolism is suspected, specialist treatment should be sought immediately in order to avoid permanent damage. The choice of a qualified practice and the open explanation of all risks therefore contribute significantly to the safety of the treatment.
As a trainer of the International Society for Aesthetic Competence (ISAC), we are committed to the highest standards in the application and treatment of injectables and fillers worldwide.
For this reason, all specialists and members of our team undergo certified emergency training. In addition, we always have hylase on hand so that we can take immediate and targeted action if necessary. Thanks to these comprehensive measures, we guarantee you maximum safety and reliable care - even in the event of rare complications.
How long does the effect last?

The duration of the effect of hyaluronic acid in wrinkle treatments varies depending on the product used and individual factors such as skin type, lifestyle and metabolism. In most cases, the duration of effect is between 6 and 18 months. Thinner products, which are used for fine lines for example, are usually broken down more quickly by the body than firmer gels, which are used for contouring or deeper wrinkles. Personal differences, such as age, general health and the activity of the treated facial area, can also influence the duration. It is therefore important to tailor the treatment to individual requirements and to have it refreshed at regular intervals in order to achieve a permanently fresh and natural result.
When is the effect visible?
As a rule, the effect of a Hyaluronic acid treatment Immediately after the injection: The treated areas appear visibly smoothed and plumped up straight away. However, there may be slight swelling or redness in the first few days, which means that the final result can usually be optimally assessed after around 3 to 7 days. As soon as any irritation has subsided, the skin reveals its newfound freshness and elasticity. As a result, patients quickly benefit from a more even complexion and a visible reduction in fine wrinkles.
What happens when the effect wears off?
If the effect of hyaluronic acid wears off over time, this is a completely natural process as the body gradually breaks down the injected material. The treated areas slowly return to their original appearance without any sudden changes or abrupt transitions. If you want to maintain the fresh and smoothed appearance of your skin permanently, you can have the treatment refreshed at regular intervals. Repeated injections usually produce gentler and longer-lasting results, as residual amounts of hyaluronic acid often remain in the skin. An individual consultation helps to determine the ideal time for a top-up and to maintain the desired result in the long term.

Is hyaluron and hyaluronic acid the same thing?
Hyaluron and hyaluronic acid are often used synonymously, but basically mean the same thing: the body's own substance, which is chemically correctly labelled as hyaluronic acid. In the cosmetic and medical field, the term "hyaluronic acid" is often used in simplified form when what is actually meant is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is produced in the human body. occurs and is known above all for its ability to bind a lot of water. As a result, it provides elasticity, resilience and moisture to the skin. In aesthetic medicine, synthetically produced hyaluronic acid is usually used for wrinkle treatments, as it is very well tolerated and structurally similar to the body's own substance.
When should treatment not be carried out?
Treatment with hyaluronic acid should not be carried out if there are acute skin infections, inflammations or open wounds in the area to be treated. Treatment with hyaluronic acid is also generally not recommended in the case of known allergies to one of the ingredients, existing autoimmune diseases or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Caution is also advised if you are currently suffering from serious illnesses such as uncontrolled diabetes or a serious cardiovascular disease. A detailed medical consultation and medical history should always be obtained before treatment so that any contraindications can be identified and risks minimised.
Which hyaluronic acid is the best?
There is no generalised answer to the question of the "best" hyaluronic acid, as individual needs and the region to be treated are decisive. High-quality hyaluronic acid products are characterised by tested quality, high tolerability and a specific cross-linking density, which influence their longevity and the treatment result.
Softer, less cross-linked preparations are often suitable for fine wrinkles, while more cross-linked hyaluronic acids are used for volume enhancement or contouring. Specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery select the appropriate preparation according to skin type, treatment goal and individual requirements in order to achieve a natural and long-lasting result.
Important to knowthat doctors are obliged to refrain from mentioning certain product or brand names in accordance with the provisions of the Therapeutic Products Advertising Act (HWG). This serves to protect patients, to ensure objective and independent medical advice and to prevent interest-led recommendations. Advice and product selection are therefore always individualised and based on what is medically appropriate and the current state of science, not on brand-specific advertising.
